The P-POC sub committee was formed in 2015 by a group of UK-based paediatric anaesthetists who recognised the importance of children and young people’s perioperative care.
The aim of P-POC is to champion perioperative care for children and young people through collaboration, so that their needs are considered when guidance and services are developed. The subcommittee also works to create and promote information and resources for healthcare professionals who share the vision of improving healthcare outcomes for children and young people.
In 2022 P-POC members co-authored a Best Practice Guideline for children’s preassessment services, endorsed by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The group also continue to develop and support projects looking at the broader aspects of paediatric perioperative care and specific care pathways to benefit children and young people.
